MATERIALS (crocheted)
- Judi & Co.’s hand-dyed Satin Cord (144 yds each), I spool Peach Melba
- Crochet hook size F
- Two faux mother-of-pearl bag handles with holes (41/2” by 21/2“)
- Yarn needle
- ‘A” diameter mother-of-pearl button
Finished measurements
8″ wide by 7″ tall, including handle
BAG (make 2 pieces)
With F hook, attach yarn to first hole in handle, work sc in each hole-10 sts. Ch 1, turn. Cont in sc as follows:
Row 1 Inc in sc each st-20 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2 Inc in sc every fifth st-24 sts. Ch 1, turn. Row 3 Inc in sc every sixth st-28 sts. Ch 1, turn.Work even in sc until piece measures 43/4“. Fasten off.
GUSSET
Ch 4, turn.
Row 1 Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch across-3 sts. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2 Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn.
Rep row 2 until gusset measures approx 16″. Do not cut cord.
FINISHING
Beg at first ch, whipstitch sides of gusset to sides of bag. Adjust gusset to fit. Fasten off.
Weave in all ends with yarn needle.
SHOULDER STRAP (optional)
Attach Satin Cord to top of side gusset. Ch for 45″. Attach with sl st to other side of gusset. SI st back to beg of ch. Fasten off. Bring strap through handle.This keeps handle straight up when using as shoulder bag.
BUTTON LP
Make Ip and attach to the inside center of one side of the bag. Ch until the piece is approx 3″. Fold in half and sl st end to the same spot as beg ch. Sew button on outside of bag opposite the Ip.
