TO MAKE UP.—Press all parts, except the ribbing, with a hot iron over a damp cloth on the wrong Side, Join the shoulder seams, beginning at the armhole end and taking 1 st. from each side at a time. Set the sleeves into the armholes, making 2 pleats at the top of each sleeve. Join the sleeve and side seams in one line and press these seams. Make a fringe along the cast-on and cast-off edges of the neck band, by winding a length of wool .round a piece of cardboard measuring 1 inch wide, cut at one end. Pick up one of the short strands and fold it at the centre, so that the cut ends meet. Take a crochet hook and insert this through the 1st st. on the 1st row. Draw the looped end of the short strand through this hole, then with the fingers draw the cut ends of the wool through the looped end, then draw up closely with a sharp downward pull. -Repeat this in every st. along both ends of the neck band. Sew the neck band neatly to neck edge, leaving the long ends free to tie into a bow at the neck. Sew in the shoulder-pads.
