1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 4 and 6 1 set d p needles No. 4

GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch            7 rows = 1 inch

HONEYCOMB PATTERN STITCH

Row 1: • K in back of 2nd st on left-hand needle and leave st on needle, K in back of first st and sl both sts off needle at same time, K in front of 2nd st on left-hand needle and leave st on needle, K in front of first st and sl both sts off needle at same time, repeat from • across.

Row 2: Purl.

Row 3: • K in front of 2nd at on left-hood needle and leave st on needle, K in front of first st and sl both sts off needle at same time. K in back of 2nd st on left-hand needle and leave st on needle, K in back of first at and sl both sts off needle at same time, repeat from • across.

Row 4: Purl.

Repeat these 4 rows for honeycomb pattern stitch.

BACK: With No. 4 needles, cast on 76(80-84) sts. K 1, P I in ribbing for 31/2 inches. inc evenly across last row of ribbing to 104(108-112) sts. Change to No. 6 needles. Row 1: Work 10(12-14) sts in honeycomb pattern st, • P 2, K 8, P 2, work 12 Ms in honeycomb pattern st, re­peat from • ending work 10(12-14) eta in honeycomb pattern M. Row 2: P 10(12-14), • K 2, P 8. K 2, P 12, repeat from • ending P 10(12-14). Row 3: Repeat Row 1, working Row 3 of honeycomb pattern st. Row 4: Re­peat Row 2. Row 5: Work 10(12-14) sts in honeycomb pattern st, • P 2, put next 2 sts on d p needle and hold in front of work, K next 2 sts. K 2 sts from d p needle, put next 2 Ins on d p needle and hold in back of work, K next 2 sts, K 2 sts from d p needle, P 2, work next 12 sts in honeycomb pattern st, repeat from • ending work 10(12-14) sts in honeycomb pattern st. Row 6: Repeat Row 2. Row 7: Work 10(12-14) sts in honeycomb pat­tern st, • P 2, sl next 2 sts on d p needle and hold in back of work, K next 2 sts, K 2 sts from d p needle, s/ next 2 sts on d p needle and hold in front of work, K next 2 sts. K 2 sts from d p needle, P 2, work next 12 sts in honeycomb pattern st, repeat from • ending work last 10(12-14) sts in honeycomb pattern st. Row 8: Re. peat Row 2. Repeat these 8 rows until piece measures 13(131/2-14) inches.

SHAPE UNDERARM: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(6-7) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 5(6-7) times. Bind off remaining 84 sts loosely.

FRONT: Work in same manner as back.

SLEEVES: Starting at cuff of left sleeve, with No. 4 nee­dles cast on 44 sts. K 1. P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. inc evenly across last row of ribbing to 60 sts. Change to No. 6 needles and start pattern as follows: Row 1: • P 2. K 8, P 2, work next 12 sts in honeycomb pattern st, repeat from • ending P 2. K 8, P 2. Continue in pattern as established and inc 1 st each end of needle every 6th row until there are 80(84-88) sts, working increased sts in honeycomb pattern st. Work even until piece measures 17(111,6-18) inches. SHAPE UNDERARM: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 5(6-7) sts. Dec 1st each end of needle every other row 5(6-7) times. Put a marker in work in center of row. Work even in pattern until piece measures 4(441/2) inches from marker, end­ing with a wrong side row. DIVIDE FOR NECK: Work across 30 sts; put remaining 30 sts on a holder to be worked later for front neck. BACK NECK: Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row twice. Work even in pattern until piece measures 6./2(7-71/4) inches from where work was divided. Then inc 1 st at neck edge every other row twice. Put these sts on a holder. FRONT NECK: Join yarn at neck edge and work across 30 Its on holder. Dec 1 st at-neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even in pattern for 33/4(43/4-414) inches. Then inc I st at neck edge every other row 5 times, ending with same row of pattern as on back. Put back sts on needle and continue in pattern on 60 sts for 4(441/2) inches from where front and back sts were joined. SHAPE UNDERARM: Inc 1 M each end of needle every other row 5(6-7) times. At the beg of each of the next 2 rows cast on 5(6-7) sts. Work in pattern on 80(84-88) sts, dec I st each end of needle every 6th row until there are 60 sts. Work even until sleeve measures same as first sleeve. Dec evenly across next row to 44 sts. flange to No. 4 needles and K 1. P 1 in ribbing for 3 inches. Bind off.

NECKBAND: With d p needles, pick up and K 88(92-96) sts around neck edge. K 1. P 1 in ribbing f or 4 inches. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew sleeve and underarm seams. l’in under. arm shaping of sleeves to shaping on body and sew tog. Pin yoke to body and sew tog carefully. Block lightly.
