LACY PANELS BEANIE

Soft, delicate, and understated—the perfect hat for so many different occasions. I think that once you’ve knitted this hat, worn it—and gracefully received all the compliments—you’ll want to knit it in a whole range of colors. I’ve used a gentle shade of lavender—but this hat will look fabulous in whatever shade you pick.

Yarn

Phi!der Partner 3.5 (50% polyamide. 25% wool, 25% acrylic) light worsted (DK) yarn

1 x 13/4oz (50g) ball (121yd/111m) in shade 0151 Eglantine

Needles and equipment

US 5 (3.75mm) knitting needles Yarn sewing needle

Gauge (tension)

23 sts and 30 rows in stockinette (stocking) stitch to a 4-in (10-cm) square on US 5 (3.75mm) needles.

Measurements

The finished hat measures approx. 16in (40cm) circumference and 91/2in (24cm) high.

For the hat

Cast on 98 sts.

Row 1: (K2, p2] to last 2 sts, k2. Row 2: (P2, K2] to last 2 sts, p2. Rep rows 1-2, 4 times more.

Row 11: K2, (p1, yo, k2togtbl, p1, k2] to end.

Row 12: P2, (Id, p2) to end.

Row 13: K2.121, k2tog, yo. p1, k21 to end.

Row 14: P2, pct. p2J to end.

Rep rows 11-14, 12 times more.

Row 63: K2tog, [p1, k2tog] to end. (65 sts)

Row 64: PI, (k1, p1 J to end.

Row 65: K1, (k2tog] to end. (33 sts) Row 66: IP2tog] to last st, p1. (17 vs) Row 67: K1, (k2tog) to end. (9 sts) Break yarn, thread it through rem sts, and pull up securely.

To make up

Sew the back seam using flat stitch.

Weave in all loose ends.
