Free knitting pattern for a Chunky Cabled Pullover designed by Berta Karapetyan. This extra-bulky turtleneck features a center cable and jumbo stitches for a quick, stylish winter project.

To fit X-Small/Small (Medium, Large). Directions are for smallest size with larger sizes in parentheses. If there is only one figure, it applies to all sizes.

KNITTED MEASUREMENTS

- Bust 36 (41, 46)"/91.5 (104, 117)cm

- Length 23 (23, 24)"/58.5 (58.5, 61)cm

- Upper arm 14 (14, 15 1/4)"/35.5 (35.5, 39)cm

MATERIALS

- 9 (9, 11) 3 1/2oz/100g balls (each approx 27yd/25m) of Karabella Yarns Wool Rope (wool 6) in #81 natural

- One pair size 36 (20mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE

- Size Q (jumbo crochet hook)

- Cable needle

- Stitch holder

GAUGE

- 5 sts and 8 rows = 6"/15cm over St st using size 36 (20mm) needles.

- 8-st cable panel = 6"/15cm wide.

TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGES.

Note: Finished measurements reflect a 1-st selvage taken in at each edge when sewing seams.

BODY

Beg at lower back, cast on 20 (22, 24) sts.

Row 1 (RS) P6 (7, 8), k8, p6 (7, 8).

Row 2 K6 (7, 8), p8, k6 (7, 8).

Rep these 2 rows once more.

Row 5 P6 (7, 8), sl 4 sts to cn and hold to back, k4, k4 from cn (8-st cable), p6 (7, 8).

Cont to work in this way, working 8-st cable every 8th row a total of 3 times more, AT SAME TIME, when 8 rows have been completed, work as foll:

Row 9 P1, p2tog, work to last 3 sts, p2tog, p1—18 (20, 22) sts.

Work 5 rows even.

Row 15 P1, M1 p-st, work to last st, M1 p-st, p1—20 (22, 24) sts.

Work even for 7 rows.

Beg sleeve

Using open cast-on method (with waste yarn), cast on 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows—46 (48, 50) sts.

Work even for 5 (5, 6) more rows.

FRONT

Next row Work 19 (20, 21) sts, sl center 8 sts to holder, using open cast-on method, cast on 8 sts, work to end.

Work even in pat reversing cable twist rows and when there are 14 (14, 16) rows total in sleeve, bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows, 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows.

Work even for 7 rows.

Rep row 9 of back.

Work even for 5 rows.

Rep row 15.

Work even for 8 rows.

Bind off.

FINISHING

Block lightly to measurements. Sew side and sleeve seams. With crochet hook, work 1 long sl st in every other row along lower edge of each cuff.

COLLAR

Note: Collar is worked in a tubular knitting technique, working rows straight across.

Pick up and k 1 st in side edge of collar.

Row 1 With sts parallel, *sl 1 st from front holder to needle, sl 1 st from back holder; rep from * to end, pick up and k 1 st in other side edge of collar—18 sts. Turn.

Next row *K1, sl 1wyif; rep from * to last st, k last st.

Rep last row four times more.

Sl odd number sts (sts 1, 3, 5, etc.) to one needle and even number sts (2, 4, 6, etc.) to another needle.

Bind off all sts in this order to form circular finish.
