Free knitting pattern for a textured block afghan. This beginner-friendly project features five strips knitted in a simple knit-purl pattern with alternating colors A, B, and C, then sewn together to create a geometric blanket.

INSTRUCTIONS

Strips 1 and 4

With A, cast on 33 sts.

Row 1 (right side): Knit across.

Row 2: P1, *K1, P1; repeat from * across.

Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the pattern until the piece measures 7 1/2" (19.05 cm) from the cast on edge, ending by working Row 2. Cut A and attach B.

With B, repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the pattern until the piece measures 15" (38.10 cm) from the cast on edge, ending by working Row 2. Cut B and attach C.

With C, repeat Rows 1 and 2 for the pattern until the piece measures 22 1/2" (57.15 cm) from the cast on edge, ending by working Row 2. Cut C and attach A.

With A, repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern until piece measures 30" (76.20 cm) from cast on edge, ending by working Row 2. Cut A and attach B.

With B, repeat Rows 1 and 2 for pattern until piece measures 37 1/2" (95.25 cm) from cast on edge, ending by working Row 2. Bind off all stitches.

Strips 2 and 5

With B, cast on 33 stitches.

Row 1 (right side): Knit across.

Row 2: P1, *K1, P1; repeat from * across.
