Hood and Scarf Free Knit Pattern

MATERIALS
Worsted weight yarn (Category 4)
[100% acrylic, 3.5 ounces, 147 yards (100 grams, 134 meters) per skein]
5 skeins self-striping yarn

Yarn needle
Size 10 1/2 (6.5 mm) knitting needles (or size required for gauge)
GAUGE
12 sts = 3 1/2" in garter stitch (knit each row)
INSTRUCTIONS
Cast on 42 stitches.
Row 1: Knit across.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 74" (187.96 cm).
Finish off; weave in yarn ends.
Fold piece in half. Starting at fold, and using yarn needle, sew an 11" (27.94 cm) seam to form the hood.
Note: For double warmth, place the hood over your head and wrap the scarf around your neck and back again. For casual wear, the front of the hood should be folded back and sewn in place.
