MATERIALS
- 6 (6, 7) 1¾oz/50g balls (each approx 99yd/90m) of Trendsetter Yarns Dolcino (acrylic myolis/polyamide 5) in #15 orange
- One pair size 10 (6mm) needles OR SIZE TO OBTAIN GAUGE
GAUGE
17 sts and 25 rows = 4"/10cm over St st using size 10 (6mm) needles.
FOR PERFECT FIT, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE.
FRONT
Cast on 64 (68, 72) sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 16th row 3 times—70 (74, 78) sts. Work even until piece measures 11"/28cm from beg.
Armhole shaping
Bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Next (dec) row (RS) K1, [p1, k1] 3 times, p2tog, k to last 9 sts, p2tog, k1, [p1, k1] 3 times. Next row Rib 8 sts, p to last 8 sts, rib 8 sts. Rep dec row every other row 2 (4, 6) times then every 4th row 10 times, AT SAME TIME, when armhole measures 3¾ (4½, 5¼)"/9.5 (11.5, 13.5)cm, bind off center 18 sts for neck. When 8 sts rem each side for straps after all decs, work 1 row even. Bind off.
BACK
Work as for front to armhole.
Armhole shaping
Bind off 9 sts at beg of next 2 rows—52 (56, 60) sts. Next (dec) row (RS) K1 [p1, k1] 3 times, p2tog, k to last 9 sts, p2tog, k1, [p1, k1] 3 times. Next row (WS) Rib 7 sts, k2tog, p to last 9 sts, k2tog, rib 7 sts. Rep these 2 rows until 17 sts rem (omit dec on one side on last dec). Next row Work 3 center sts tog. Rep this row every row until 9 sts rem. Work even on 9 sts for 1½"/4cm. Cast on 17 sts at beg of next 2 rows—43 sts. Work in k1, p1 rib for 10 rows, AT SAME TIME dec 1 st each side every other row 5 times—33 sts. Bind off loosely in rib.
FINISHING
Block pieces to measurements. Sew side seams. Sew front straps to shaped side edges of back.
