MEASUREMENTS:

A: 36 (40, 44, 48, 52)" bust

28 (32, 36, 40, 44)" waist

C: 28.5 (30, 32.5, 33, 33.5)"

DEC 1: At beginning of RS rows K1, SSK. At end of RS rows K2tog, K1.

INC 1: At beginning of RS rows K1, M1. At end of RS rows M1, K1.

WAISTBAND

With smaller needle and B, cast on 11. Begin Chart A: Row 1 (WS) K1, work chart, K1. Keeping first and last stitch in garter, work 8 rows of chart 23 (26, 30, 33, 36) times. Bind off.

UPPER BODY

With RS facing, smaller needle and A, pick up and knit (PUK) at the rate of 3 stitches for every 4 rows along edge of waistband. Change to larger needle. Count stitches and adjust to 132 (152, 172, 192, 212) on next row if necessary.

Next row (WS) P31 (36, 41, 46, 51), place marker (pm), p70 (80, 90, 100, 110), pm, purl to end. Work 2 more rows in stockinette. Next row: increase row (RS) [Knit to 1 before marker, M1, k2, M1] twice, knit to end—4 stitches increased. Work increase row every 4 rows 9 more times—172 (192, 212, 232, 252) stitches. Work even until piece measures 8" from upper body pick-up, end with a WS row.

DIVIDE FOR FRONTS AND BACK

Next row (RS) K39 (44, 48, 50, 55) and place on hold for Right Front, bind off 4 (4, 6, 11, 12) for right armhole, k86 (96, 104, 110, 118) and place on hold for Back, bind off 4 (4, 6, 11, 12) for left armhole, knit to end.

LEFT FRONT

Shape armhole and front neck: Continuing in stockinette, Dec 1 at beginning of every RS row 5 (7, 8, 11, 14) times AND AT SAME TIME, when piece measures 9 (9.5, 9.5, 10, 10)" from upper body pick-up, shape front neck. At beginning of next WS row, bind off 16 (19, 20, 19, 20)—18 (18, 20, 20, 21) stitches. Work even until armhole measures 7 (7.5, 7.5, 8, 8.5)", end with a RS row.

Shape shoulder: Next row (WS) P10 (10, 11, 11, 12), wrap and turn (W&T), knit to end. Next row (WS) P3, W&T, knit to end. Work 1 row across, hiding wraps. Place stitches on hold.

RIGHT FRONT

With WS facing, join yarn to Right Front stitches at armhole edge. Work as for Left Front EXCEPT reverse shaping. Decrease for armhole at end of RS rows. Bind off for neck and shape shoulder at beginning of RS rows.

BACK

With WS facing, join yarn to Back stitches at left armhole edge.

Shape armholes: Dec 1 each side every RS row 5 (7, 8, 11, 14) times—76 (82, 88, 88, 90) stitches. Work even until armhole measures 6 (6.5, 6.5, 7, 7.5)", end with a WS row.

Shape back neck: Next row (RS) K18 (18, 20, 20, 21), join a second ball of yarn and bind off center 40 (46, 48, 48, 48), knit to end. Working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn, work 3 rows even.

Shape shoulders: Rows 1 and 2 Work to last 8 (8, 9, 9, 9), W&T. Rows 3 and 4 Work to last 15 (15, 17, 17, 18), W&T. Work 1 row across, hiding all wraps. Place stitches on hold.

LOWER BODY

With RS facing, smaller needle and A, PUK at the rate of 3 stitches for every 4 rows along lower edge of waistband. Change to larger needle. Count stitches and adjust to 132 (152, 172, 192, 212) on next row if necessary. Next row (WS) P13 (16, 19, 20, 23), pm, [p18 (20, 22, 26, 28), pm] twice, p17 (20, 23, 24, 27), pm for center back, p17 (20, 23, 24, 27), pm, [p18 (20, 22, 26, 28) pm] twice, purl to end. Next row: increase row (RS) [Knit to marker, slip marker (sm), M1] 3 times, knit to marker at center back, sm, [knit to marker, M1, sm] 3 times, knit to end—6 stitches increased. Work increase row every 4 rows 9 more times AND AT SAME TIME, when piece measures 2 (2.5, 2.5, 3, 3)" from lower body pick-up, divide for back vent as follows: work to 3 before center back marker, join another ball of yarn and bind off center 6, work to end—93 (103, 113, 123, 133) stitches each side. Continue working both sides at the same time with separate balls of yarn until piece measures 5.5 (6, 6, 6.5, 6.5)" from lower body pick-up. Bind off.

SLEEVES

Cuff: With smaller needle and B, using temporary cast-on, cast on 10. Begin Chart A: Row 1 (WS) K1, work chart. Keeping 1 edge stitch in garter, work 8 rows of chart 8 (8, 9, 9, 10) times. Break yarn, leaving a long tail. Remove temporary cast-on. Graft ends of cuff together in stockinette stitch.

Sleeve: With RS facing, double-pointed needles and A, PUK at the rate of 3 stitches for every 4 rows along garter edge of cuff. Count stitches and adjust to 48 (48, 52, 52, 56) on next round if necessary. Place marker and join to work in the round. Knit 6 (9, 9, 4, 5) rounds. Inc 1 each side of marker next round, then every 12 (10, 10, 8, 6) rounds 7 (9, 9, 13, 16) times—64 (68, 72, 80, 90) stitches. Work even until piece measures 14.5 (15.5, 16.5, 17, 17)" from sleeve pick-up, end last round 2 (2, 3, 6, 6) stitches before marker.

Shape cap: Bind off 4 (4, 6, 12, 12), knit to end. Begin working back and forth in rows. Dec 1 each side every RS row 15 (15, 17, 17, 19) times. At beginning of every row bind off 3 (4, 3, 3, 4) twice, 3 (4, 3, 4, 4) twice, and 4 (4, 4, 4, 5) twice. Bind off remaining 10 (10, 12, 12, 14) stitches.

FINISHING

Graft shoulders in stockinette stitch. Work Cabled Edging. Set in sleeves. Block pieces. Sew hook and eye fasteners to edging, placing the first at neck edge and the last at waistband. Place one 1" below top fastener, one 1" above bottom fastener, and the other 2 evenly spaced between.

CABLED EDGING

1 With RS facing, smaller needle and B, starting at top of back vent, PUK14 down right vent edge, pm, PUK74 (82, 86, 90, 102) along lower edge, pm, PUK58 (58, 62, 62, 62) along right front edge, pm, PUK8 (12, 12, 16, 16) along bound-off neck stitches, pm, PUK30 along right neck edge and back neck shaping, pm, PUK30 along back neck, pm, PUK30 along back neck shaping and left neck edge, pm, PUK8 (12, 12, 16, 16) along bound-off neck stitches, pm, PUK58 (58, 62, 62, 62) along left front edge, pm, PUK74 (82, 86, 90, 102) along lower edge, pm, PUK14 up left vent edge, PUK9 stitches along top of back vent. Turn work.

2 Work 3 repeats of Chart B to 2 before marker, work Corner D, work 18 (20, 21, 22, 25) repeats of Chart B to 2 before marker, work Corner D, work 14 (14, 15, 15, 15) repeats of Chart B to 2 before marker, work Corner D, work 1 (2, 2, 3, 3) repeats of Chart B to 4 before marker, work Corner E, work 5 repeats of Chart B to 4 before marker, work Corner E, work 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) repeats of Chart B, then work Rows 1-4 of chart 1 (0, 1, 1, 1) more time to center back.

3 Work Rows 1-4 of Chart C 1 (0, 1, 1, 1) time, then work 2 (3, 3, 3, 3) repeats of chart to 4 before next marker. Work Corner F, work 5 repeats of Chart C to 4 before next marker, work 1 (2, 2, 3, 3) repeats of Chart C to next marker, work Corner G, work 14 (14, 15, 15, 15) repeats of Chart C to next marker, work Corner G, work 18 (20, 21, 22, 25) repeats of Chart C to next marker, work Corner G, work 3 repeats of Chart C to end. Bind off. Sew end of edging to WS at top of vent.
