Ski Sweater Knitting Pattern

MATERIALS
SPINNERIN Alpine (2 oz. balls) – 7 (7-8) Balls or
SPINNERIN Nylaine Sport Yarn (2 oz. pull skeins) (7-8) Skeins in Main Color (MC) AND 1 Ball or 1 Skein Each in Colors A and B. 1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 3 and 5 Bobbins
GAUGE: 6 sts = 1 inch            8 rows = 1 inch
BACK: With No. 3 needles and M C, cast on 108(114– 120) sts. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 2(21/4-21/2) inches. Change to No. 5 needles and work in stockinette st, carry­ing M C yarn at back of work when working design. Row 1: Following chart from A to B, K 19 M C, join bobbin wound with Color A and K 2 sts, K 3 M C, K 2 Color A, K 3 M C, join bobbin wound with Color B and K 2 sts, K 6 M C, put a marker on needle to indicate end of de­sign on this side, K 34(40-46) M C, put another marker on needle, following chart from B to A, K 6 M C, K 2 Color B, K 3 M C, K 2 Color B, K 3 M C, K 2 Color B,19 M C. Row 2: Following chart from A to B, P all sts in same color as previous row. Row 3: K all sts in same colors as previous row. Row 4: Repeat Row 2. Con­tinue in this manner and work Rows C to D of chart 3 times and Rows D to E once. Working Rows E to F, inc 1 st at each end of needle every other row 4 times. ARMHOLES: Repeat Rows D to F on 116(122-128) sts until piece measures 221/2(231/4-24) inches.

SHAPE SHOULDERS: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 10(12-14) sts. At the beg of each of the next 8 rows bind off 8 sts. Put remaining 32(34-36) sts on a holder.

FRONT: Work in same manner as back until piece meas­ures 191/2(201/4-21) inches. SHAPE NECK: Work 52(54-56) sts; put remaining 64(68-72) sts on a holder. Working on one side only, at neck edge dec 1 st every other row 10 times. Work even until front measures same as back to shoulder.

SHAPE SHOULDER: At arm edge bind off 10(12-14) sts once and 8 sts 4 times. Leaving center 12(14-16) sts on a holder, join yarn and work 52(54-56) sts of other side to correspond, reversing all shaping. NECKBAND: Seam one shoulder. With right side facing you, using No. 3 needles and M C, pick up and K 84(88– 92) sts around neck, including sts from holders. K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 5 inches. Bind off very loosely. Seam other shoulder, including neckband.

SLEEVES: With right side facing you, using M C and No. 5 needles, pick up and K 96(102-108) sts along arm-hole edge of front and back on one side. P 1 row. Continue in stockinette, dec 1 st each end of needle every 6th row and working design as follows: Work 3 rows Color A, 4 rows M C, 3 rows Color A, 4 rows M C, 3 rows Color B, 4 rows M C. On the next row P 3(6-9) M C, * P 3 Color A, P 6 M C, repeat from * ending P 3(6-9) M C. Work 3 rows more following color pattern. Continue to dec 1 st each end of needle every 6th row until 18 decreases have been made at each side. Work even on 60(66-72) sts until sleeve- measures 131/2(14– 141/2) inches. Change to No. 3 needles and K 1, P 1 in ribbing, dec 8(10-12) sts evenly across first row, until cuff measures 4 inches. Bind off loosely.

FINISHING: Sew underarm and side seams. Turn 21/2 inches of neckband to inside and slipstitch in place on wrong side. Block lightly.
